Morning Tweet: Fear The Turtle

Mar 4, 2010, 9:00 AM EDT

Life is NOT very fun right now for a Duke basketball player from Maryland. Nolan Smith’s family evidently had a little bit of trouble before they could make it back to their abode in Upper Marlboro, due to the mini-riot in College Park following the Terrapins’ big win. Leave Nolan Smith’s family alone! DC Sports Bog has several photos of the civil unrest, plus a video, for your enjoyment. There were a few arrests, evidently. Officer, they’re looting the Food King!
Oh well. At least we know that everyone in Maryland read Rick Reilly’s column about how rushing the court is evil, and took it to heart.
Fun fact: Nolan’s father, the late Derek Smith, played nine years in the NBA and was a member of Louisville’s 1980 NCAA Championship team that defeated UCLA.
You’ve been given a great gift, Thursday: A chance to see what the world would be like without you.

ABOUT LAST NIGHT …

What you missed while enjoying the outdoors

* Suggestive netball team name rejected. Captain Seymour Butts devastated.

* Here’s Terrell Owens with a fun fact you probably didn’t need to know.

* South African president tells police they can use “deadly force” to fight unrest during the World Cup. See you in Johannesburg!
