Because Tiger Woods’ lawyers were struggling with an overall record akin to that of the New Jersey Nets, it was fortunate for them that PETA came along when it did to boost their morale. The animal rights organization said today that it is backing down from a planned billboard campaign that featured Woods alongside the words: Too much sex can be a bad thing … for little tigers too. It was PETA’s way of saying that pet owners should spay or neuter their dogs and cats, and Tiger’s people were not amused. After much angry commotion within Tiger’s attorney beehive, a cease and desist letter was sent to PETA, which immediately retreated. They will not use Woods’ picture; but it didn’t take the animal rights organization long to regroup. Their new target? South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford. Tee it up:
From The New York Post:
Lawyers for the horndog golfer threatened to sue the activists if they used his once-valuable image in their campaign urging owners to neuter their pets. So now PETA says it will feature another famous philanderer, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford, with the possible tagline: “Your dog doesn’t have to go to South America to get laid.”
A PETA source told Page Six, “We were contacted by Tiger’s lawyers at IMG who kindly, but firmly, told us we were not authorized to use his image on the billboard, and would we desist. We agreed and have now turned the focus of our campaign to Mark Sanford.”

From The Peta Files:
Now that we’ve left Tiger off the billboard, we’re looking to replace him with another oh-so-familiar face: continent-hopping, scandal-producing Mark Sanford, governor of South Carolina. Our potential slogan? “Your dog doesn’t have to go to South America to get laid.”
The site also has a reader poll along with its post, presumably to stave off more negative publicity before it gets too loud. Right now the vote is running 54 percent con to 40 percent pro on running the ad.
But in a way, PETA has already won. The attention from the Woods detraction and now the switch to Sanford is more publicity than they ever could have hoped for. And all they had to do was spend a few minutes with Photoshop.
Lord only hopes that they don’t unleash Frenchy Cat next.

Before I quit the law biz, I spent a month fighting a PETA request to do a protest on the Ohio Statehouse lawn in which they planned to place 1000 buckets of pig shit, erect a video screen showing chickens being abused in factory farms and play an audio loop of animals being slaughtered.
Nice to see they’ve gone more subtle.

Why dont they just use a picture of a real tiger??? Everyone would get it and Mr. Woods couldn’t sue. That would make for a great laugh.

Joey – my condolences!
What does Tiger Woods have to be depressed about?
What does any narcissist have to be depressed about?
Since they think the whole world revolves around them any little thing that does not go their way can set them off!
I know, my mother is one.

I think PETA needs to be included on the FBI’s terrorist watch list. And by the way, where is the French special forces when you need them? ROFL. Been a while since they sunk a greenpeace vessel… or harrass greenies talking about global warming and protection for all those cute little lovable animals who taste extremely YUMMY!
HEY PETA… I HAD A JUICY BURGER FOR LUNCH! LOTS OF MAYO, ONIONS, CHEESE… AND… I EVEN HAD A PHILLY CHEESESTEAK THE OTHER NITE! MOOOOOOOOOOW!

PETA should have used the ad but not with Tiger’s photo. People would have gotten the jest of the ad without the photo.

While I agree with Peta’s stance on animal cruelty and the humane treatment of all Gods’ creatures. They by no means have the right to use and or defame any individual without their express permission. They have a tendency to piss people off at the expense at the great cause that they are suppose project. Its about time to stuff a sock in them

Joey I feel for you pal. No one should have to bury the children.I sincerely mean that. I just think that your anger is misdirected. The news media is the culprit here, they are the ones that are sensationalizing this stupid story about tiger Woods. They are creating the story just to make and sell news stories. I will say a prayer for you and your family. Try to find peace

PETA = People Embarrasing the Tidewater Area
OR
People Eating Tasty Animals
Living in the hometown of their HQ is bad enough, why do I need to hear about them on the net??
