The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals took a swipe at both irresponsible pet owners and Tiger Woods today, announcing plans to use the graphic you see to the right as a billboard to be placed near Tiger’s home in Orlando in the near future. (Male dogs bark their disapproval). Of course, the fact that the graphic has been leaked might be PETA’s way of sending up a trial balloon to see if Tiger’s attorneys attempt sue them back to the stone age. But there’s something bigger at work here. Namely, that Woods’ televised apology on Friday hasn’t seemed to stem the phenomenon of Tiger-as-parody. The man’s image is now literally associated with reckless, harmful behavior; a negative brand that isn’t going away soon.
A post at The PETA Files explaining the whole thing seems to have been taken down. But here’s the text that was there, as reported by the Huffington Post:
One unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce an estimated 420,000 cats in only seven years, and a female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in six years. Many of those animals end up unwanted and unloved, often dropped off at animal shelters that are already bursting at the seams
Just as we all know and accept that the sky is blue, we know that every time a breeder or pet store sells an animal, an animal in an animal shelter loses his or her life.
In December, the Syracuse Crunch minor league hockey team offered a “Tiger Woods Foursome,” in which fans could purchase four tickets to a game, plus receive a certificate for discounted auto body work, for $60. This is only the beginning, folks.
Frenchy Cat approves.

I don’t go for a lot of PETA’s tactics, but they’re absolutely right about having pets spayed and neutered. On a comedic scale of 1-to-10, I’d give the billboard a 7.

Just for that I’ll be sure to run over more cats, squirrels, and chickens, microwave a mink for sport…

addiction to any thing is a reconized disability. I cant believe PETA or anyone for that matter would make fun of the disabled

GO PETA! I’m not involved with PETA but did you know that LA County kills 20,000 unwanted dogs a year! Sometimes you have to use weird tactics to reach stupid people. I’m glad that they are addressing this – anyway they can.

This ad made people comment, hate, bitch, preach, judge, be rude, cheer, praise, make statements, and so on because of it. Brilliant idea. Also, I don’t feel sorry for him. He brought all this shame and humiliation on himself and made hundreds of millions promoting some false squeaky-clean image. You have to sow what you reap, after all.

JT and I guess their two children are “moroons” as you put it to want to grow up with both a Mommy and a Daddy…Tiger’s actions were shameful, but at least he is taking steps to change himself and how moronic of you to criticize a woman who is trying to forgive for the sake of her children.

hey linda, you know, you are right and seem to be a cut above in your sensitivity. i agree with you. we as a society are so jaded that we have forgotten about our childhood teachings (and mine were many many years ago) that dictated that we give respect, put others before ourselves and love and protect all life equally. But you gotta admit, the billboard is bloody hilarious!

Funny billboard… I thought PETA was for the ethical treatment of animals by people? What do they (PETA) cares if Tiger or (no pun intended) if animals are knocking boots.
PETA = Please Eat The Animals

There’s no doubt that Tiger’s lawyers would go after this. But its a brilliant tactic: Get the publicity and use the energy that exists with regards to Tiger woods, and do nothing except design the billboard and say you might do it. Brilliant…

PETA wants to treat animals ethically, but not humans. Something about that is inherently wrong. The billboard says more about PETA than about Tiger.

Save a stray cat, but beat a man when he’s down. PETA has a very narrow view of ethical treatment. The billboard doesn’t promote PETA’s cause and would be very hurtful to TW’s innocent family. Not what one expects from caring people. It could do PETA more harm than good.

I think PETA has no business using Tiger’s image for anything unless he approves. The media has taken this too far. Men AND women screw around all the time. It is a character flaw.. and Tiger got caught, as do many others. He and Elin should deal with this on their own.
I would sue the paws off PETA for even thinking of using his image if I were him. They are no worse than the media in keeping this stupid personal story going. Let them deal with this, and let him play golf. It’s his profession. If a mechanic screws someone other than their spouse, can they no longer be a mechanic?
Jeez… give it a damn rest!

I don’t like the fact that the american veternarian’s and PETA fail to inform the public that there is a Birth control medication that could be put in animal food that cost less than a penny a dose and is very effective. Safe to use and harmless to humans
( pregnant women are advised not to touch with bare hands). If PETA really wanted to make a diffrence they should petition the cat and dog food makers to add birth control drugs to some of their brands. It would also help the stray cat and dog population, like the ones that sneak up at night to eat my pets food. It would save millions of dollars across the USA in both animal control and disposal fees for the mountain of dead cats and dogs that are put down every year. All of this for a few cents more for a bag of dry cat or dog food. The American Veternarian’s Association has said nothing for fear of money lost on spaying and nutering, when they in fact should be leading the fight on this one-If they truly cared about the well being of american animals.

Unfortunately Tiger is fair game. He brought all of this on himself. It is a real shame that he or his handlers didn’t have enough sense to keep his fly zipped. He doesn’t get any sympathy from here. His wife is the one who deserves sympathy.

Proves once again that PETA has absolutely NO concern or moral conscience when it comes to exposing children to improper topics. I, for one, find it offensive that they would force parents to answer the question from 6 year-olds just learning to read, “mommy, what is sex?” PETA may care about ethical treatment of animals (what a joke anyway), but they certainly don’t care about the ethical treatment of children.

Poor taste! Using another’s pain for financial gain. I don’t know much about PETA but now have a negative opinion about the company.
