Paper: Tiger Woods thought sex rehab was 'a joke'

Feb 11, 2010, 7:00 PM EDT

The National Enquirer, which began this whole Tiger Woods infidelity barn dance back in November (remember when you scoffed at them for daring to report that Woods was having an affair? Ah, we were so innocent then), has today come up with an amusing nugget. Woods did not learn anything during his time at the Gentle Path sex rehabilitation clinic in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and in fact thought the entire program was “a joke.” That’s according to an Enquirer source, who claimed that Woods “has been in complete denial the whole time.” Woods reportedly left the clinic last week with wife Elin Nordegren, the two hoping to repair their marriage.
Fat chance, says the Enquirer.

In its current edition, the Enquirer prints a report from a source who supposedly has inside information on Woods’ stay in Hattiesburg.

The disgraced golfer treated group therapy with such contempt that he caused one female patient to break down in tears, the source says.

“Tiger’s so-called rehabilitation is a joke. He went into rehab as a sex addict, and he’s coming out as one. He has been in complete denial the whole time,” claims the source. “Tiger isn’t about to change his stripes. As soon as his wife Elin takes her eyes off him, he will be hopping into bed with the first bimbo that catches his eye.”

I’m not sure who talks like that, especially if they know they’re being quoted. Yet it’s not hard to believe that the King of Golf would just be going through the motions with the rehab program, so that he could possibly salvage his marriage and get on with his life (i.e.: golf). If he was even there at all, that is.
Because the source could conceivably have been talking about a Tiger Woods lookalike. Huh? Did we just blow your mind?

Yep. RT should not be welcome in this discussion. I imagine everyone who has posted – no matter what they believe about Tiger – rejects RT’s hate, bigotry and, frankly, his or her evil opinions. We should all speak out against it…

Here I thought I’d have to go to Barnes & Noble to get a book about Tiger…

  3. Jeff - Feb 12, 2010 at 3:36 PM

Tiger is not an addict, he is a god! I would love to have 30 girlfriends without my wife knowing about it! Every man I know is a sex addict, you women are the ones that need therapy!

  4. J. Shands - Feb 12, 2010 at 3:39 PM

Your logic is warped and the situation for thousands of additcts isn’t as simple as you make it. Flippant statements help no one.

  5. Keystone - Feb 12, 2010 at 3:40 PM

Agreed. The “sex addiction” group is nothing but people with lots of money who can put a label to their actions besides “I’m responsible for my behavior”. No, go pay a crapload of money to some hokey clinic and now you’re tagged with some “disease”. What a bunch of BS. I think, unfortunately, this is part of our changing society for the worse. New generations are being brought up having to pay no consequence for unruly behavior. “Oh, my kid is not getting good grades, he must have ADD. Here’s some drugs to help you along”. Let’s see what happens to that kid in 20 years. We’re seeing this now. For the first time in our history, we’re going to be led by a generation who grew up with the “pop-a-pill” mentality. Nevermind trying to work hard for what you crave or have morals. No, just take a pill and it will be all better. Then the pill disappears and the person becomes an animal. But that’s ok, that person is an “addict” of some sort, so cut him/her a break. What a sad state of affairs when everyone has some kind of issue they can’t help themselves out of. Sex Addict, are you kidding me???? Maybe rapists are just sex addicts and they’ve been getting the wrong treatment, that being jailed and having to be some convict’s “bitch”. How heartless of us. All rapists just need to go to a sex addict clinic and be cured just like Tiger (more like pussycat) did. Any liberal out there in agreement?
The sex rehab is not the joke. The joke is the people who enter those clinics and pay up the nose to get “cured”. Seriously. And the other joke are the wives/husbands who stick around. How interesting that it seems only the ones who stand by their spouse are those who are affluent. Hmmm. Maybe I’ll open a sex addict clinic…what are the requirements for that???
Tiger is not a sex addict, he’s a freaking cheater. And Elin is just a two-bit whore with no self-respect. Period.

I guess men like such as the Kennedys, Eisenhower, FDR, Clinton, Churchill, Mantle, Ruth, and MLK were all united by one major flaw. They all enjoyed the company of women outside their marriages. And since none were charged with the crime of rape, women seemed to have enjoyed their attention as well. Someday when you pass this mortal coil, and stand in front of your Maker, I am sure you will only hope to be judged by same standard for your behavior and thoughts as you have judged Tiger. In that case, you can’t lose.

  7. Dan Kocsis - Feb 12, 2010 at 3:52 PM

Well said. Whether he likes it or not,and we know he does, he is a ROLE MODEL. That’s what they built him up for. All he wanted was a TROPHY WIFE for his image, nothing more. He’s a loser.

  8. hey you - Feb 12, 2010 at 3:55 PM

I don’t know why anybody even cares about this guy… or ANY of these millionaires in jock straps…
These are not the people that should be made into heroes… they do nothing for society or their fellow man.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why anybody even cares how well somebody can hit a ball with a stick
(whether it’s a baseball or a golf ball) or throw a ball (whether it’s a baseball or a basketball or a football).
Sitting on your duff drinking beer and watching sports and idolizing people who play sports is nothing but a time waster for lazy slackers who have nothing better to do with their time. If people would stop paying attention to these narcissistic megalomaniacs maybe we could actually make life better in this world, or at least in your own household.
BTW, I don’t believe in “sex addiction” either.
Every time somebody gets caught doing something that the aren’t supposed to be doing they go whine to a shrink somewhere and those psycho-babble-ists put a label on it and say it’s not the poor “addicted” person’s fault. Nobody ever takes responsibility for their own actions and lack of will power, they have to blame some made up sysndrome. Tiger got caught with his fingers in the cookie jar and egg on his face and, instead of admitting that he’s a cheating low life who doesn’t care about his family, hypocritically made up a story about being “addicted” to sex. He went into serious damage control mode. I call “BS” on his arrogant ass.
Society needs to stop idolizing these people and just stop paying attention to them at all.
Turn off your TVs and stop buying the products that they endorse.
I’ve wasted enough time on this… I’ve got real things to do.

  9. RDR - Feb 12, 2010 at 3:55 PM

Think Rt needs to leave the kkk hat at home!

  10. dree - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:10 PM

uh,,, dave…. maybe you ought lighten up a bit. methinks you take yourself a tad serious, don’t you? feeling tense? try masturbation. yeah that’s what you need pal… oh and you also may want to check your facts about tiger woods numerous and very generous re-contributions to society.. look in the mirror dave, at yourself, the demons you speak of likely live THERE!

  11. the ky - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:16 PM

What constitutes a sex addict? An unfaithful husband/wife? Give the kid a break. He’s not married to America, only Elin. Sex is readily available to him as it is to every other athlete, celebrity and gov’t official who’ve taken advantage of their positions. Tiger’s “sex addict” label is not a self-confessed one; that’s the public’s opinion & opinions are like most people…. Leave Tiger alone, stop judging him & unless you’re trying to sleep with him, don’t worry about what’s going on with him & Elin unless you are them. He’s an excellent golfer & that’s what we pay him to do;not be a poster boy for fidelity. Please.

  12. Chris - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:18 PM

My god…don’t you have something else to do? Get a life.

  13. Rick Chandler - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:19 PM

In case anyone’s wondering where RT’s comment went, it was humanely destroyed a few minutes ago, having been judged in violation of just about all of our standards for decency and sanity. And that’s sad, because our standards are pretty low.

  14. Lemming - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:24 PM

It’s really too bad that we, the American public, decided that this was anyone elses business other than Tiger Woods’ and his wife! It is not up to anyones father to impose punishment in this case especially someone who can’t spell.

  15. Kat - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:42 PM

Exactly how do you “rehab” a sex addict anyway? If you’re a recovering alcoholic, you quit drinking. If you’re a recovering drug addict, you quit drugs. Is a sex addict supposed to quit sex? If you just have sex exclusively with your spouse for the rest of your life, are you recovered? If you divorce your spouse and live promiscuously for the rest of your life, did you fall off the sex wagon? Puh-leeze. The “sex addict” label is for the famous (and infamous) cheaters who simply got caught in a big, public way and are looking for a big, public excuse for their behavior. It’s his life, and his sex life, and he can live both anyway he chooses. The rest of us can choose to respect him or not and that’s where the story ends.

  16. ArmadilloBob - Feb 12, 2010 at 4:55 PM

I could’nt agree with Kat more! There is NO SUCH THING as a “sex addict”.It’s just a bunch of bull made up by people who got caught, And “clinics” that were created to make money.Human beings are geared to procreate, with anyone and everyone, that’s what nature is all about, be fruitful and multiply. Get over it, and leave Tiger Woods alone.Except maybe to find out what exactly is in the “Tiger Woods’Sex Diet”,WAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

  17. y? - Feb 12, 2010 at 5:00 PM

you know what, I bet the demons who Dave speaks of live in everyone, they just show themselves only at certain times.
BTW this “tiger is cheating” thing is all stupid, it was cleared up months ago, he was found guilty and they’re putting this on the news NOW?
I can spell fine, this was just a little bit easier

  18. fools - Feb 12, 2010 at 5:45 PM

sex “ADDICT”? come-on, people… any healthy young human being *should* have a strong appetite for sex. that’s how we were made by nature!
i’m not condoning infidelity, but all this puritan nonsense about “addiction” is genuinely pathetic. i know every last one of you loves a good romp… and if you don’t, then *YOU* are the one that is in poor health and perhaps should go get a check-up!

The whole concept of “sex addiction” is curious. It appears to only inflict married men or women, not those that are single. It even avoids men/women who are engaged. Treatment appears to be 8 hour days of libido calming drugs, requisite viewing of repulsive pictures of potential sex partners, and abstinence training based on hypnosis.

I can’t believe the lack of moral fiber this world has today. It’s like if it feels good than it is okay to do it. What ever happened to love, committment and loyality when you take the marriage vows or you are in a committed relationship. I am in my early 50’s, divored, and gave up dating years ago because of the low morals in today’s world. No, I am not a born again, I am just your average woman who believes in magnogomy, loyality, trust, compassion, honestly, and a solid and loving relationship with the person you are invovled with. If a man is going to cheat on you that many times there is no why in the world that you could ever trust that person again, unless you live on a deserted island with just the two of you. If you feel like you have to have sex with 100 or more people, than have the guts to get out of the relationship or marriage that you are in and choose to live that kind of meaningless life. As my mother often told me growing up, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. As far as I am concerned the morals in this country have gone right down the toilet..

To those who can not figure it out:
An addiction is determined by how much time physically and / or mentally is given to a particular life need or want and how much harm it does to you and others in the process. You can be addicted to food, even tho one must eat healthy meals every day. On the other hand, some one may really love certain types of food, but is disciplined enough to limit intake so as to not create imbalance. What has really amazed me about this whole thing is just how liberal and loose our society has become; the majority of people really don’t care about morality until they personally get hit with the after-affects of someone else’s immoral, addictive, destructive behaviour.
