Lawyer for 'sex for World Series tickets' gal busts out the little-used 'my client is a slut' defense

Sure, it lacks the mesmerizing quality and legal panache of “The Chewbacca Defense”, but you have to give some credit to William J. Brennan, Esquire, the attorney for Susan Finkelstein, who many of you will recall as the “buxom blonde” (her words) who posted an ad on Craigslist last October stating that she was in “desperate need” of Yankees-Phillies World Series tickets. The evidently die-hard Phillies fan Finkelstein claimed she was the “creative type” regarding what – ahem – services she was willing to provide in exchange for tickets.
But enough about the backstory – unless you happened to be living in a cave in the last couple of months you have undoubtedly been creeped-out due to the lurid details of this tawdry tale.
And if you think this sordid story couldn’t get any crazier, just wait until you read what – um – rather unorthodox argument Brennan employed in an attempt to get prostitution charges pending against his client dropped.
Scene: Pre-trial hearing on Friday, January 29th in Bucks County Court in Pennsylvania.
Players present: the aforementioned defense attorney extraordinaire, William J. Brennan, Esquire; the Honorable Judge Albert J. Cepparul; prosecuting attorney (unnamed in report).
Players absent: The Defendant, Susan Finkelstein of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – who, according to her attorney, had “other business to attend to” (her Facebook page indicates she is in Cozumel, Mexico).
Legal argument made on behalf of Ms. Finkelstein by her legal counsel: Defendant not “in the business of prostitution.”
Basis for said legal argument put forth by Mr. Brennan:
“You can be a slut; that’s not illegal.”
Judge’s ruling based on counsel’s legal argument: DENIED.
Residual effects of ruling: Trial has been set for this matter for February 24th, although prosecutors have dropped the more serious charge of promoting prostitution.
Analysis: Unique plan of attack for the defense may have backfired, Brennan insists that he and his client “are going to fight this case to the finish,” which is admirable, considering such actions would be his ethical and professional obligation. Good on him.
Analysis, Part II: Although Judge Cepparul displayed judicial acumen in correctly interpreting case law, one is left to wonder: where have you gone, Doug Llewelyn, bailiff Rusty Burrell and Judge Wapner? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you.
Woo woo woo.

True. Wanna give it away, fine, go ahead. Want to sell the exact same thing? Sorry, can’t.

Looks like Wapner and Llewellyn are still kicking, but Rusty has sadly gone to sleep with the fishes…

I’m not sure what the big problem is. Girlfriends/wives do this all the time. All she wanted was some tickets and was willing to exchange some lovin for them. This goes on every day on dates/married life.

Thank you soooo much, government, for being the morality police. You get paid for telling others how to live their lives. What a job! What a bunch of crap!!! How many women accept a nice meal and a few drinks in exchange for sex and why is that so bad? We don’t need a nanny state controlling every aspect of our lives. We don’t WANT a nanny state always inspecting everything we do to ensure it is healthy and meets their moral standards. We are not livestock to some benevolent rancher.
Go away government and take your militarized police with you. People just want freedom to live their already too short lives without interference as long as they are not hurting anyone else.
