Riotously funny hockey PSA, starring Ian Laperriere and his missing teeth

One of the best headlines I’ve ever seen came from Philly Gameday this past December: Puck out indefinitely after taking a Laperriere to the face. The Flyers’ Ian Laperriere needed 100 stitches after losing seven teeth in a game against the Sabres on Nov. 28, and was fitted for partial dentures soon afterward. No big deal; hockey players of Laperriere’s high quality are prized for their toughness, not their good looks. But what happens when your dentures are stolen, and you have to film a public service announcement the next day? Hilarity happens, that’s what.
Video following the jump.
From Off Wing Opinion:
Thanks to my old buddy Gil Edwards at Red Lasso for digging up this local clip from the Fox affiliate in Philadelphia. In it, we’ve got a local news personality interviewing Riley Cote of the Flyers. Towards the end, they cut to an outtake of Ian LaPerriere gamely trying to shoot a public service announcement even though he’s without his false teeth. Let’s just say the attempt was less than successful.
Meanwhile, here’s a story to buoy your spirits going into the weekend:
Remember when the Penguins honored John Challis, the Pennsylvania high school athlete who had terminal cancer? You really have to hand it to this organization, which time and time again goes beyond the call of duty in reaching out and helping the community. A true class act. Well played, Flightless Water Fowl.
