To say that Lindsey Vonn is red-hot right now would be a major understatement

U.S. downhill skiing sensation Lindsey Vonn won the World Cup downhill at Cortina earlier today, making her 5-for-5 on the World Cup circuit this season. Cortina, in Italy, is one of the most celebrated events in women’s downhill, and if Vonn can somehow win the downhill event next week in St. Moritz, Switzerland, she will head into the Winter Olympics in Vancouver on a seven-race winning streak in the discipline.
So, yeah, it’s abundantly clear that Lindsey Vonn is on an incredible roll right now and with the Olympics beginning on February 12th, it could not have come at a more opportune time.
The victory at Cortina was Vonn’s 30th on the World Cup circuit, placing her eighth all-time and nearly halfway to the record of 62 held by Austrian Annemarie Moser-Proell.
Her recent run of mind-blowing success isn’t lost on the attractive and immensely-talented 25-year-old:
“Just knowing that people have had that many wins makes it more inspiring,” Vonn said. “You know that people have done it before and so it gives you hope that you can do it, too. It’s good to know there’s something to keep striving for.”
Although downhill skiing is one of those we-watch-it-every-four-years kind of sport, Vonn’s success on the slopes, her good looks and charm have translated quite well off it, making her a very attractive candidate for a variety of endorsements.
Vonn is the primary spokesperson for Under Armour’s cold-weather gear, appearing in media and in-store advertising as well as on the home page of the company’s website. Last winter, she popped up in TV commercials for Alka-Seltzer cold medicine.
She was photographed last summer for more glamorous advertisements for Cover Girl cosmetics and Pantene shampoo, and Vonn also will promote other Procter & Gamble products to a mass audience. Red Bull has hired a full-time publicist for her, as has the Vail ski resort. Her popularity has grown so much that she needs two agents from sports management giant IMG to handle it all.
Talk about being Queen of the Hill, amirite? Ugh.
Before you know it, Vonn will be just like another Olympics superstar – Michael Phelps – and you will see her peddling Subway sandwiches. Let’s just hope she is savvy enough to not be caught pulling a toke off a bong. That would probably be a wise move.
So, best of luck to Miss Vonn at the Olympics. The entire nation will be pulling for her. The fact that she is quite the attractive lass doesn’t hurt, either. I did mention she is quite the looker, right? I did? Several times? Okay. Good.
