Photos of a Tiger Woods doppelganger at sex rehab clinic surface

Jan 23, 2010, 10:45 AM EDT

The website X17 Online released photos yesterday of a man purported to be seeking treatment at the Gentle Path rehab center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi who eerily resembles one Tiger Woods. These new photos bring into question the veracity of the photo (right) of what was believed to be Tiger Woods at the facility published by the National Enquirer earlier this week.
I’m telling you, this Tiger Woods Sex Rehab story is like an onion – not because with every layer you peel off, the more it stinks – but the fact that it is beginning to cause me to experience chronic gas.
Nah. Just kidding, but what does this all mean? Of course, with all things Tiger Woods-related, there are competing theories, angry denials and rampant speculation.

For beginners, the National Enquirer vehemently denied that these new photos call into question their claim that they snapped the first photo of Tiger Woods since this Whole Crazy Incident began:

In a laughable effort to cover up Tiger Woods’ stay in a sexual addiction clinic, a Tiger lookalike was trotted out in front of a group of paparazzi at the Gentle Path rehab center Friday in Hattiesburg, Miss. The bizarre and ridiculous ruse was a clear attempt to make it look like The ENQUIRER’s exclusive photo of Tiger in rehab is not him.

And even though one photo agency Web site fell for it immediately, the differences between the two Tigers ARE obvious to even a casual observer.

So kudos to whoever dreamed up the idea of Fake Tiger, but as you can tell by reading this, it’s the details that count. Plus we’re willing to bet everything that Fake Tiger can’t break par.

Working under the assumption – and it’s just that – an assumption – but let’s say that a Tiger Woods doppelganger was in fact trotted out for the world to see. Who was behind it? Gentle Path, in an attempt to preserve the privacy of not only Woods, but all the patients at the facility? Or could it have been Tiger’s people, hoping to throw snooping photogs off the scent of their Sex Tiger? They’ve done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.
In actuality, this wouldn’t be the first time that Tiger’s people have hired a stand-in to um, stand in for their treasured client. Via a post on SportsbyBrooks comes news that Tiger’s management brought in a lookalike for the “walk on water” commercial for EA Sports back in 2008.
Photographer Preston Mack was at the above-referenced shoot, and he relayed his experience of receiving the honor of posing for a photograph with Tiger’s stand-in.

When people ask me what was my favorite photo assignment, I usually have no answer. Every job seems to have its own special moments and no one assignment seemed to stand out above the rest.

However, after shooting Tiger Woods, I think that this photo shoot will always be the most memorable. Maybe next time, I can get a photo of me with Tiger, and not just his stand in!

Sweet mercy, this story – if it wasn’t already – is really turning into one hot mess. Every day there’s something new, some conflicting account, some bizarre twist that even the most creative storyteller couldn’t dream up.
I believe what we need here is a team of super sleuths to crack this case wide open. A group of folks that aren’t afraid to go the extra mile, put their well-being in jeopardy to get to the bottom of the stinkiest situation, and most importantly, have a killer sleuthing van that may or may not have a strong odor of cannabis emanating from it. I think we all know to whom I am referring:

Zoinks! Like hey, I bet if we put the Scooby Gang on the case, the scruffy-looking fella photographed by the National Enquirer would be unmasked and we would discover that it was none other than Old Man Withers, the crazy old groundskeeper from Augusta National, the entire time!
Jinkies, indeed.

You tell those pesky kids to mind their own business! Why, if it wasn’t for them, no one would have known about the old abandoned gold mine underneath the Gentle Path Rehab Center.
