I don’t know how to say this so I’m just going to say it: Rachel Uchitel’s celebrity socialite birthday celebration, scheduled for Jan. 29 at Palm Beach’s swanky 251PB club, has been canceled. The statement, from her lawyer, Gloria Allred:
“The media attention was unexpected and unwelcome and for that reason the planned party at a club will not take place.”
Here’s hoping that you, too, soon reach a position in life where your party plans are announced by Gloria Allred. “Fred will not attend the rave. Word somehow leaked to his girlfriend, and for that reason his scheduled appearance, and beer keg rental, will not take place. Fred will not take questions at this time.”
Wasn’t the point of this invitation to drum up publicity for the event? It’s been bouncing around the Internets for six days. Plus, when you’re known as “Tiger’s No. 1 mistress,” can anything else they say about you really be all that bad?
Anyway, it seems we’ll never know the identities of the “celebrity guests” who were going to attend. My guess is they couldn’t find any, and that’s one of the reasons for the cancellation. But I’m a cynic. Well, at least she still has a criminal defense strategy named after her.
So I’ve pressed these slacks for nothing? Sigh. Any “Save Conan” rallies scheduled that day?
