Gilbert Arenas PETA anti-fur ad: Bad timing, or crazy like a fox?
Jan 6, 2010, 6:30 PM EDT
Well, at least we know he wasn’t shooting animals with those guns. PETA rolled out its latest anti-fur campaign ad today; and while some may consider any Gilbert Arenas-based publicity today as bad timing, PETA takes a different view. As spokesman Dan Shannon told me via email: “Arenas may not have a job in the NBA right now, but he’s got one with PETA.”
As you know by now of course, Agent Zero was suspended without pay today by David Stern for pretending that his fingers were guns during a timeout of the Wizards’ game on Tuesday. I’m not making that up. Also he’s banned from his tree fort. But that’s what happens, I guess, when you keep an armory of guns in your locker.
Reportedly included in the gun cache was a gold-plated .50 caliber Desert Eagle, the model made famous in the James Bond film Man With the Golden Gun, and of course Austin Powers: Goldmember. Saddam Hussein also had one. Like the Iraqi dictator, Arenas’ weapons of mass destruction were all unregistered, which could lead to jail time.
So why would PETA unveil the Arenas ad today, of all days? Because they understand the power and nature of publicity. The buzz around Agent Zero will never be bigger, and since he didn’t actually kill any people, or dogs, they consider this the best time to use his name. This is a smaller-scale version of Nike and Electronic Arts sticking by Tiger Woods during his time of trouble. PETA not only reaps the benefits of the Arenas buzz, but garners some good will be sticking with their guy.
While I prefer Pamela Anderson’s efforts, this works too. Smart move by PETA.

PETA should put their efforts into getting children to read. While I think wearing fur is not for me, I certainly wouldn’t make a scene in public when someone chooses fur over something else. As far as Arenas goes, the ad could easily say “Ink, not Education”, just because it rhymes doesn’t make it effective.

While I agree with some of PETA’s message, I don’t agree with their tactics. They are attention whores and border on being overly radical. ASPCA and other organizations are much better in their message to stop cruelty to animals. That is where donations should be made, not PETA.
I thought that the 2nd amendment trumped DC’s stupid gun laws too. “Unregistered?” Who says you have to register firearms? I thought the 2nd amendment gave Americans the right to own guns.

PETA is one of the most racist, anti-semitic organizations in the world outside the neo-nazi movement and the Ku Klux Klan. They have repeatedly compared the suffering of African American slaves and nazi holocaust victims to the suffering of animals being prepared for slaughter.
Furthermore, it has been reported numerous times that PETA kills more cats and dogs annually than any other animal control organization in the country. Besides, the Bible says God gave man dominion over all the animals on the earth but I guess PETA would have condemned Jesus for feeding the hungry with loaves and bread and FISH!!!

While they try to ACT like they’re doing good works, even their extremist activities don’t paint the real picture of these people.

Are you silly, stoned , or stupid? please pic one.
You have the right to bear arms, but you have to register them in the area where you live. If you dont, you can go to JAIL!!
This is nothing more than a case of,”I’m to important and rich to go to jail.” Just ask Burress after he gets out. You might need to go to Canada if he still plays football.
