Tiger's mother speaks! Kind of

Dec 18, 2009, 3:30 PM EDT

Take this for what it’s worth: People magazine is reporting that Tiger’s mother, Kultida Woods, has ‘told a friend’ that she is hurt and disappointed by her son’s actions, and “wants to know how he could do this to his family.” Yes, I would imagine that would be her reaction; my mother would have beaten me severely with a canoe paddle by now. If I were going to make up mom quotes and sell them to a magazine, those are just the ones I’d go with. But on the chance that these are genuine Kultida Woods reactions — hey, they could be — here ya go.

From People:

“[She] is hurt, angry and disappointed in Tiger,” the friend says. “She wants to know how he could do this to his family.”

But the elder Woods hasn’t turned her back on her famous son, according to the source: “She loves him and will support him through anything, but she needs some time to work through this.”

“It was devastating to her. She likes Elin, and adores her grandchildren. She’s worried about them. She doesn’t want to see them hurt,” says the family friend.

Meanwhile, watchmaker Tag Heuer announced today that they are officially out of the Tiger Woods business.

On Friday the CEO of the company told the Swiss paper Le Matin, “We recognize Tiger Woods as a great sportsman but we have to take account of the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events.”

When the Swiss bail on you, it’s really over. They didn’t even take sides against Hitler.

Exactly! And as long as we’re quoting from The Godfather… A man can never be considered a real man unless he spends time with his family.

“It is his obligation to screw every woman willing to seclude herself with him.”
What a classy man you are! I wonder how you would react if your daughter was one of his conquests.

Lashona, you’re wrong. The EASY way out is for him to get a divorce. That’s the problem (one of many) with our society. Divorce is so easy. How about living up to your marriage vows? You know, the ones you took before God and everyone else. The ones you said about for better or worse, etc. Yeah, run out and get a divorce. That’ll cure everything. Idiot.
JC, you’re wrong too. Cheating on your spouse is a PREREQUISITE for a Senate or Congressional seat. Where have you been?
The thing I laugh at most are the idiot corporations that actually think I’m going to drive a Buick because their name is plastered on the side of Tiger’s golf bag, or that I’m going to drink Gatorade because Tiger does, or wear a Tag watch because Tiger does. Heck, even Tiger doesn’t drive a freakin’ Buick (Cadillac Escalade was the vehicle of choice he introduced to a fire hydrant and neighbor’s tree, remember?) Those idiots, the ones that shoveled money in his direction because, what, he can play GOLF?, are the real losers. What a bunch of morons. They’re getting exactly what they deserve. By the way, where’s IMG in all this? Any Mark Steinberg sightings lately? Maybe he’s on the boat with Tiger. What a joke. This is what happens when you make athletes role models instead of PARENTS…

I think Tiger Woods is a scumbag. Have any of you read what he has said to these skanks about his wife and children? He has a problem alright but it is not a sex addiction. It is a maturity problem. Grow up and be a man Tiger. You will never be the man Jack Nicklaus’ is. You are a disgrace to golf and all married men.

  6. Jarvin - Dec 20, 2009 at 11:54 AM

Tiger is not a sex addict. He just likes beautiful women….like me…I’m a single guy, I use eros regularly and I believe that a very large amount of men that can afford to, do so. He shouldn’t have done it married and famous though…

  7. floyd - Dec 20, 2009 at 12:09 PM

Guy’s give tiger a break. All his doing are just human. All this women did was to take a taste of Tiger. Let us just say Tiger is practising and playing a 18 hole game. ‘PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT”

May I suggest that Tiger just fade away and move to France . He will never return to the PGA tour because of the redicule he’d receive from the fans and professional torrmentors .
His pride would never allow him to accept the abuse and his penchant for fame and glory has gone down the toilet .
I think a more reasonable course of action for all the alienated Tiger fans is to show compassion and leave the man alone . I personally think the man is on the brink of physical self destruction and perhaps Tiger should be on suicide watch and watched closely by those who profess to love him .

Have you considered moving egghead since you have the answer for Tiger. Apparently, you are Mr. Perfect without imperfections. Stop throwing stones unless you live in a glass house or walk on water.

All this stuff that we’ve been reading and hearing about Tiger does not upset me at all. There’s ALWAYS a reason behind something like that, and only Tiger knows for sure. Everyone alse, especially the media, is just speculating, trying to figure things out that are actually very private to Tiger, and not anyone’s else business. I did not loose any faith in Tiger. I think he’s a grat athlete, a great golfer, and he’s the only reason I watch the tournaments. With all respect to all other excellent golf pros, I’m not watching a tournament when Tiger is not on. I wish him all the very best in whatever he has to do. Tiger, I’m on your side.

Not much to add to the comments here, as everything’s pretty much been said.
Just one thing: Better he than me.

  12. D-bag - Dec 20, 2009 at 5:41 PM

Come on media. Enough already! He had affairs! Right or wrong, this thing happens thousands of times a day. Not sure it is news worthy anymore. In fact, it was not news worthy before. I understand the advertisement concerns behind it, but enough is enough.
I would prefer that Tiger did not get divorced. I would rather him and Elin work it out and have a stronger marriage than they started with. That is not going to happen. OB Keeler wrote 65 years ago that money was going to ruin sports. He was right! Look at alll professional sports and see the destruction money has made in games that were made to be competetive and fun.

  13. lenny - Dec 20, 2009 at 6:38 PM

come on people,he got caught, plain and simple. Its time to move on.power, money, prestige, and all the other crap these people think they can get away with,is what is wrong with the world today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  14. mark123 - Dec 20, 2009 at 6:43 PM

Its pretty unbelievable, the tiger enablers with all their excuses why we should look past his character. “Oh, he is the greatest”, he’s a winner, his wife/harem are the problem, everybody does it, etc. Pretty scary, the message is just win and the rest of who you are appears just to be a minor sideshow. I’ve found these folks are pretty slow on the uptake when it comes to the big picture, the important things…what they are passing down to their children? Character doesn’t appear to be near the top #10, on the list. Cheating, lying, covering up, the double life (100′s of business trips?? all with made up elaborate stories) all add up to who you are at the end of the day. What else do you have, if you have lost all credibility….no one can ever trust anything you say or do.

It should come as no surprise to Mom, her husband cheated on her. Check out interview with high school classmate of Tiger’s.

I’ll keep buying Nike’s for the same reason I always did, because they fit. I bought Nike Air’s when they first came out, but almost stopped when a close friend teased me that I was being trendy.
Does anyone really buy a product because a celebrity endorses it? Who are these shallow people that need to have their life choices validated by a celebrity?
When I look at my old, worn and smelly Nike’s, I can say “yeah, Tiger endorses those.” How appropriate.

I think this runs much deeper than infidelity. While many are getting in line to tell the latest Tiger joke, there’s a bigger problem looming for Tiger. His doctor was in the news recently as being accused of providing Human Grown Hormone to clients. In addition to dramatically increasing muscle mass, a side effect of that drug is increased sexual desire. Tiger could lose not just his wife and current commercial endorsements, but his entire career could be in jeopardy. It’s the same as an Olympics athlete using performance-enhancing drugs. When it is proven that the athlete used it, he/she is stripped of metals won and barred from the sport. Same could happen to Tiger. What a tragedy that being great wasn’t enough – he wanted to be perfect. With that mentality, I hope someone will keep a close watch on on him – he must be feeling so low, he could decide to pull the plug rather than be less than perfect.

ok THE MAN CHEATED ON HIS WIFE. HE HAS A LONG WAY TO GO TO REPAIR HIS
PUBLIC AND PERSONAL IMAGE. PROFESSIONALLY, THE ONLY WAY HE IS GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS IS GET OUT THERE AND WIN MORE TOURNAMENTS. THE RATINGS FOR THE TOURNAMENTS HE PLAYS IN WILL BREAK RECORDS. COUNT ON IT. ESPECIALLY WHEN IS IN THE FINAL PARING ON SUNDAYS. HE WILL EVENTUALLY GET MORE SPONSORS AND MOST LIKELY WILL BE MAKING MORE MONEY IN THE FUTURE THAN HE IS NOW. TALK ABOUT REALTY TV. IT WILL MAKE FOR GOOD TV. THE PROBLEM HE HAS NOW IS THAT HE IS IN SECLUSION. KOBE BRYANT GOT THROUGH HIS ORDEAL IN PART BECAUSE HE DIDN’T HAVE A CHOICE. HE COULDN’T HIDE BECAUSE HE HAD GAMES TO PLAY. KOBE TOOK A FEW DAYS OFF, HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE WITH HIS WIFE AND WENT BACK TO WORK. NOW HES ABOUT TO SIGN A 90 MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT WITH LA. TIGER IS STILL IN HIDING. MY TAKE IS THAT HE WANTS TO COME OUT BUT I THINK THE MAN MAY HAVE SOME VISIBLE BRUISES THAT NEED TO HEEL FIRST. HE NEEDS TO HEEL AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE AND THEN GET OUT THERE, FACE THE MUSIC AND GET BACK ON THE COURSE. SURE HE WILL TAKE SOME LICKS FROM THE MEDIA BUT AFTER A FEW WINS THEY WILL PUT HIM RIGHT BACK ON THE PEDESTAL HE FELL FROM.

It’s is rumoured that Exxon, the former Esso, is about to revive the slogan “Put a Tiger in your Tank”, hoping to make light of his indiscretions while improving their image as one of the “Seven Sisters.

  20. JohnnnyB - Dec 21, 2009 at 11:27 AM

You are correct. But Bill Gates also did not get married until he was almost 40 years old either. Maybe he was smarter and knew the power and intoxication of great wealth better than Tiger. After all; anyone who could outfox IBM is some kind of genius. And certainly not the kind that could be out schemed by a Denny’s or Perkins waitress. Tiger is just a genius golfer. Nothing more. Nothing less. And I for one love to watch him play golf. I have no emotional ties to His wife, his mother, his kids or his hookers. And neither should any of you.

  21. KWON79 - Dec 21, 2009 at 12:53 PM

What we all have is our opinion. Our opinions are not based on Tiger they are based on how we feel,What we beleive is right or wrong.
Last Year Tiger was the Hero in a lot of our minds and hearts. This year he is the gum on the bottom of our shoe
Sometime you are the pigeon some times you are the statue
We simply choose a side we want to be on, Polictical, Sports Entertainment. we jump on the story at hand
So what about the store of the guy who left his dog out in the cold last night.

  22. John - Dec 21, 2009 at 1:33 PM

Just wait, the defense will be that he is an addict, much like those addicted to booze or drugs. This will absolve him from responsibility. Word will come out that he is seeking counseling and 90% of the world will forgive him because he is seeking help. And it will all be a huge crock! Tiger would be living this life style to the day he died if he hadn’t been caught and ultimately hit him in the pocket book.

  23. Tyrone w - Dec 21, 2009 at 3:34 PM

Lashona I could not agree more. Robert Blake killed his wife but did not get the hate that Tiger Woods is getting. He cheated on his wife, ok that was wrong, but what Billionare you know who has not. I am not justifing what he did, I am just saying we should not be the ones who should pass judgement. He without sin throw the first stone.

  24. john - Dec 21, 2009 at 5:58 PM

I’ll cast the first stone. And being a billionaire doesn’t make one immoral. If you are immoral you’ll be immoral whether you have a billion or don’t have a nickel. I’ve been tempted like most anyone else has in my many years of marriage but I’m proud to say I have never cheated on my wife, so I know that it’s possible. You see, unlike animals we as humans are able to differentiate between what is moral and what isn’t and have the mental capacity to either resist our temptations or give in to them. Hell, I’ll cast the second stone as well.
And please let’s not confuse Tiger with the person who may have had a discretion or two. What we are talking about here is someone who is an absolute freak, who has no regard for who he hurts along the way as long as his desires are met.

  25. Lemonella - Dec 22, 2009 at 12:26 AM

One could say all men are addicted to sex. He is certainly not the only man who has multiple affairs. Rich and poor men have had multiple affairs, lived through the crap and continued on with life. As far his kids, probably years from now they people will have forgotten all about this tawdry affair and many of us will not be around to see any of their reactions. So, why the so called “concern” about what people will think about them. An affair by the President of the United States did not prevent his daughter (who was most certainly humiliated big time) from finding true love as an adult. This too shall pass. We are only left to wonder whether the player will return and what it will be like when he does. Other than that enough of Tiger already. P.S. if
the public would spend this much time writing about the banks, airlines, and wall street, and others “screwing us” maybe it could help turn the economy around, and we could bag some of the crooks that put the country in a financial mess.
