OK, lawyers for Tiger Woods aren’t saying that nude photos of their client actually exist (nudge nudge, say no more), but they are scrambling around the globe anyway, filing injunctions to prevent these non-existent photographs from appearing in the media. In Britain you can do that — their laws concerning libel and slander are quite different than ours — and in fact a British court has just slapped an injunction on any Woods picture nudity, according to CNN. This will forever known in England as the Woods Naughty Bits Ruling.
The Schillings law firm, which is representing Woods, got the High Court in London to issue the injunction Thursday afternoon. Many man-hours and powdered wigs were involved.
The court document says anyone who violates the order may be held in contempt of court and may be fined, imprisoned or have assets seized.
“For the avoidance of doubt, this order is not to be taken as an admission that any such photographs exist,” Schillings said in a letter sent to legal departments of British publications.
“Our client is not aware of any images and in any event he would not have consented to any such photographs being taken, nor would he have consented to the dissemination or exploitation of the same.”
TMZ has obtained a copy of the order (pdf file).
Earlier this week word came out that Playgirl Magazine had received nude photos purported to be of Woods. At last report Playgirl was still trying to determine if the photos are authentic.
