Elin planning end run around Tiger? Purchases mansion in Sweden

Dec 8, 2009, 11:20 AM EDT

Elin Nordegren: Smarter than we thought? According to NBC London, Tiger Woods’ beleaguered wife purchased a $2.5 million home in Sweden in negotiations that began “two months ago,” apparently in her own name and that of her twin sister. Could it be that Elin discovered her husband’s (alleged!) philandering ways long before anyone thought she did?
As we all learned in Beowulf, you don’t mess with Nordic women. They will kick your ass in every conceivable way.
Nordegren is said to have packed up the kids and moved out of the Orlando home she shared with Woods, and is supposedly now living in another home nearby.

Hakam Andreasson of Aftonbladet, a Stockholm newspaper, confirmed that Elin and her sister purchased the property on the Stockholm archipeligo of Faglaro. Negotiations began about 2 months ago and were finalized on December 1st.

From the New York Daily News:

Her Swedish getaway is located on some prime Scandinavian real estate — a small, secluded island reachable from Stockholm only by ferryboat.

Or, you know, by simply walking across the ice nine months out of the year.

“It belonged to a professional soccer player who wanted privacy,” Linge said. “I heard she started looking at it last summer and bought it two weeks ago.”

What can we deduce from this? Just speaking for myself, I believe that Elin devised an exit strategy the minute she discovered that Tiger was cavorting with floozies. She got the kids, money, a house in Sweden and got to bend a golf club over Tiger’s head. She got it all.
Meanwhile, the woman transported to the hospital from Tiger Woods’ Orlando home (or nearby) was identified as Barbro Holmberg, Nordegren’s mother who arrived in Florida on Friday. Television station WESH reports that she was admitted to the hospital with stomach pains.

A black Cadillac Escalade with Elin Nordegren inside was seen arriving at the hospital after the ambulance, and she was later seen leaving in the same vehicle. The license tag on the vehicle had a similar registration to that of the vehicle involved in the crash.

Are you serious? Are you worried she can afford this… You should be worrying about how Tiger is going to afford stuff when she is done w/ him… Leave this family alone. It seems that everyone is so caught up in this mess because they don’t want to deal w/ their own issues at home. They are just another American Family…

So true, just another american family with problems. Too sad but it is a magnification of the problems a majority of US families have. And like the majority of marriages this will end in divorce and Tiger will be forgiven, Elin will be rich, and we all will watch him win the Master’s in the spring.

It is all about trust. Why are we shocked about Tiger? Major athletes think they must display their excess testosterone by not only risking exposure, but knowing they are more than likely to be found out. I’ll leave that to the shrinks to figure out the cause while we fans are left with the effects. Somehow, I cannot fathom a similar story breaking where the central figure was Arnold Palmer…or Jack Nicklaus….or Tom Watson….or Gary Player…or Ben Hogan…or Byron Nelson…or even the beloved Payne Stewart….and many, many others. The mold doesn’t fit. And, now, neither does Tiger. The core of the game of golf is trust, honesty, and ethics. It is the only sport where the player is also the referee and must call a penalty on themselves….which has been done many times over the years even to the point of losing a match or a tournament. Can you imagine Michael Jordan not being called for a foul he knew he did, so he calls timeout and tells the refs that he did hack the shooter and should be assessed a foul? Or a Peyton Manning telling the ref that he really fumbled the ball and was not in the act of passing, so the other team should be given the ball? In both basketball and football, the response in 99% of all fouls and penalties (a guess, but a pretty close one) is one of protest. The “I’m not guilty” plea. Even when the replay is obvious. A wonderful example for our children. Baseball still abides by the premise that “it’s only cheating when you get caught” ….and they even laugh about it. Okay, let’s say that is ‘part of the game’. But, in golf, it is about trust. I guess that Earl never got that across to Tiger, although if he were alive today, Tiger would not be able to sit for a month after a trip to the woodshed with Earl. And, what happened to his respect for his mother, let alone his wife. And when his children grow up, they will learn of this also. Tiger may still set all the records, but he has forever removed himself from being a part of the Mount Rushmore of golfing greats. What a shame.

HE is the one who should be tossed out on his ass and never enter a pro stadium again. That shows a DEEPLY FLAWED CHARACTER WHERE THE NEXT STEP WILL BE TO TORTURE AND KILL HUMANS. What in the hell has happened to the values of this country???

For someone who never “jumped on the Tiger bandwagon” you sure are quick to put your two cents in and talk about your indignation of Tiger, like most everybody else. Talk about bandwagon. I am sure that you are a squeaky clean guy who has never committed any sins in his life. Who are you to judge him??? Let he who has committed no sin throw the first stone. Your comment just boils over with hypocrisy. You talk like you knew all along he is a bad guy. Fake people like you make me sick to my stomach. Mind your own business and leave Tiger alone. He has never hurt you or your family. Just stop commenting on blogs.

What does this have to do with sports!?! Quit bashing Tiger to get readers. Just stick with talking about sports.

I completely agree; everybody’s got problems, it doesn’t mean they should be made public; this is another example of media overblowing shit and turning sports into Hollywood headlines.

Holy lick paul you sure have something against Elin. What a shame. Maybe you and Tiger have the same morals when it comes to marriage… Her a slut….hardly, devoted wife and mother looks like to me. You must be from bottom of barrel of morals that Tiger has. You go Elin !!!!!

I actually feel that Elin is a bigger low-life than Tiger. Originating from a fairly well-to-do family herself, she chose to throw aside her wonderful Swedish family’s history, genetics and future for marriage and children with an ultra-rich mate of equally questionable character. It’s been said that children of the rich or semi-rich often feel the need to show their family that they can obtain their OWN big money away from their family. I”m sure Elin knew exactly what she was getting into with chic-magnet Tiger. The risk/reward ratio was in her favor.

Lowlife slut??? He’s the low life slut? I don’t see a string of porn stars, prostitutes and walmart greeters, jumping out of her private life. No, she is the one at home with the children, while he is out hooking up with hoes. You’re an idiot Paul.

  17. Rich - Dec 28, 2009 at 6:35 PM

    My God, Herr i Gud.
Elin deserves none of this misguided deflection of blame. Who is at fault? Tiger screwed up! Au pair is a typical Swedish job where youngsters learn the language of their host country. That doesn’t make her low-life. Many Swedes have summer homes in the archipelego or in the south of Sweden, it’s not unusual for them to be looking at property when it becomes available, many of these homes never go up for sale and are passed along generations. Good timing though but her home search probably predated any known infidelity. The Swedes love golf and would always take the “tiger line”. Not any more. They will likely re-word that phrase because I’m certain he has now plummetted in their collective eyes to another typical athlete. Because as much celebrity Tiger had, the Swedes also value above all self-sufficiency, privacy, not bragging about money or position and most definitely do not crave the superficial materialism that consumes the american mentality. (p.s. nudity does not equal pornography, that’s another puritanical vice that crushes the brains of prudes). I think it’s silly the preconceived notions that Americans have of Swedes like they all are on the Bikini Beer Team or are stewardesses. Ha! They do not idolize those who are famous, in fact they will go out of their way to “give them their space”. Swedes are not “gold-diggers”. Elin was placed into that spotlight by way of her marriage only. These clearly idiotic rants about what is or isn’t true about Elin and Sweden are certainly from those wwho have never lived there, visited or married a svenska. Yes a great golfer but not a role model or one to envy. He had it all, and how much he loses is still to be seen. I feel sorry for both of them but Tiger is to blame for his own misfortune.

It’s been said that Swedish women are the world’s most expensive and sought-after whores. Draw your own conclusions.
