I don’t know how to tell you this so I’m just going to say it: The First Church of Tiger Woods is no more. Los Angeles radio talk host John Ziegler, the self-proclaimed pastor of the church which he started in 1996 as a tribute to his favorite golfer, announced Tuesday on his web site that the church would be disbanded due to Woods’ “transgressions.” And then a bolt of lightning struck the steeple.
Of course the fact that Ziegler is a conservative talk host, and Woods’ alleged affairs aren’t playing well with his audience, are likely the real reason he’s running from this. Ironic, since Ziegler has been fired from at least three broadcasting jobs for making controversial statements on the air, and has written a book in which he blames political correctness for contributing to the downfall of the nation.
His web site has been mostly dormant four the past four years, but Ziegler has written a flurry of posts slamming Woods over the past two days. Excerpts from the announcement:
“After several days of evaluation, I have decided to disband the First Church of Tiger Woods (as indicated by the graphics at the top of this website) and I will not renew the TigerWoodsIsGod domain name when it expires in a couple of months. Any future commentary on this site (which may not happen at all) will be regarding Tiger’s failings in relation to his affair/accident debacle which continues to unfold almost by the hour.
“The events of the past few days have revealed Tiger to be a serial adulterer, a blatant liar and a selfish coward. While I am sure I will always respect his ability as a golfer, that was only a very small part of why this much-misunderstood website was created and why it became such a big part of my life.
“He has failed to live up to those expectations and he has shattered a sacred trust that cannot be repaired. Therefore, Tiger Woods now has at least one less supporter. I am quite sure that I am not alone.”
But, does Jesus still support Tiger Woods? Known as someone who would never cast the first stone, and forgive trespasses and all that, I would guess the answer is yes.
And then of course we also have this evidence. So the next question is, what is Christ’s handicap?

Honestly, you probably should not have started the church anyway–Mr. Woods if a man with many faults just as we are–none are perfect. So if that is what it took for you to disband, you should have done it years ago because just as sure as Mr. Woods is human he was bound to one day make a big mistake or screw up in one way or another–we all do. The bible also says, “Judge not that ye not be judged”. That’s the problem, many of you are lost in the world be ye in the world but not of the world. Get a life, move on, and stop judging the man because men have deceitful hearts. It’s the way, it’s God’s word!
My prayers and thoughts go out to Mr Woods and his family. None of you have a clue what is going on in his life because if you did none of this nonsense would be happening. At some point “you reap what you sow”. I believe that with everything in me. Many people call it Karma, I call it life. If you put out negativity that is what will be returned to your life and the lives of the people you love. None of us are perfect, none of us should look to strangers to get our solace, and none of us should be shocked. This is a test for Mr. Woods and his family, he hurt no one except his family if he did what others said he did. He was right by not giving an interview or speaking to the public or anyone else for that matter. He owns us nothing. If he chooses to play or not play golf it pays none of my bills. No decision he makes affects me or my life. None of his actions define who I am as a person. Many have done far worse things than he has the only difference, we still hide behind our four ways away from discovery and scrutiny.
People do things for different reasons; hurt, mistrust, anger, insecurity and much, much more. Money only buys certain types of security. From the outside it may look as though Mr. Woods has everything but none of us really know what is going on with him on the inside. If you really “trusted” him then you would have paid attention to him and the changes he has been going through in his life. Stop talking so much and pay attention to those who are close to you because 9 times out of 10 you don’t even know what is going on in your own homes.
Let the news people speculate, dig, and do whatever they want because they need it to feel important but don’t be a part of this craziness! This doesn’t affect us! Personally, I don’t believe Mr. Woods should have said anything on his website or otherwise. I don’t think he should have used the word “transgression” or anything else–it wasn’t necessary because HE OWES US NOTHING! I understand why he doesn’t speak to the media, I wouldn’t they are like buzzards.
My opinion of Mr. Woods based on the fact that I don’t know him, I believe he is a fine individual. I believe that he has much to deal with and I am not talking about this situation because it is only a response to whatever is causing him pain. I believe that his wife is the only person who can help him deal with his pain. I believe that the women are bandaides covering a scab.
As an African-American female, I have a great deal of admiration for him and his accomplishments. Everything in life we do is a learning experience, it is not what we do but how we handle those things. We are defined by our strengths and weaknesses, we all have them they are all different and caused by different experiences, Mr. Woods is no exception. Take heart, stop responding to these things because they define us in the same way that many of you have judged Mr. Woods. Don’t throw stones in glasses houses because the next window broken may be your own!!!!!!

John Ziegler should be put away in a mental institution for creating such a thing in the first place.
