When worlds collide like this, all you can do is hold onto something sturdy and hope that you’re not sucked into some sort of black hole or space-time continuum. Apparently Marv Albert was roughed up by 50 Cent’s posse on Wednesday night in the backstage area of the Jimmy Kimmel Show in Los Angeles. What up, Fitty? Marv is down by law, dawg!
According to the Los Angeles Times, the trouble started when Albert arrived at the show (he was calling the Lakers-Bulls game on Thursday), and 50′s posse didn’t recognize the TNT broadcaster, who showed up with his publicist and apparently got too close to the rapper.
A scuffle ensued, and Marv apparently got pushed around a bit.
Didn’t recognize Marv? 50′s boys don’t hang out together and watch Wacky Sports Bloopers on Letterman?
As Albert arrived, with an entourage of one, TNT public relations specialist Jeff Pomeroy, there was a sudden scuffle when a multitude of 50 Cent protectors seemed unfamiliar with Albert. There was shouting (“It’s Marv Albert,” yelled a Kimmel show guard, a pronouncement that seemed to have no effect on the 50 Cent phalanx.) There were obscenities. A fist or two flying. A “Don’t you put your hands on me” pronouncement.
And finally Albert made it to his waiting room, relatively unruffled but slightly puzzled. “Did you see that?” Albert said. “I thought they were kidding, but then I realized they weren’t.”

But 50′s posse didn’t reckon on one thing. Suddenly Marv’s hairpiece flipped up, revealing a large bottle of pepper spray. Bodyguards scrambled for cover as Marv’s forehead unleashed its toxic payload, clearing his path. Needless to say, he was the first guest that night.

Marv Albert and Fifty Cent? That’s Kimmel’s guest list? What? There was a convention and all the interesting people when to it, instead? Or, perhaps Hollywood is boycotting Kimmel for his radical stand on being relevant? Besides, Marv has a history of violence — oh, yeah, that was against women during sex, maybe the possee was acting out in support of bondage/orthodontics and discipline. The only thing worse is the fact that 28 people commented on it. I know I need to get a life, it appears I have a lot of company.

omg……where to start….to insinuate that marv albert was in the wrong in any way is ludicrous, but so are most of the comments on here. i don’t care if your black, white, or polka dotted, marv would have a case for pressing assault charges should he have wished. 50 IQ’s “posse” doesn’t get an exemption from the rule of law. you hit someone without provocation, you are guilty of assault. when a few do it, in front of plenty of witnesses, it starts to smack of a gang mentality, shocking that that extrapolation can be made, huh? 50 IQ is a joke, a thug and a symbol of the degradation of society wherein he is made filthy rich and famous for being criminal. and yes, he bears some responsibility for what occurred, it was his “posse”, who it must be assumed he empowered, that created the issue. it’s only surprising they didn’t shoot poor marv. he is a scary and threatening guy. probably 63/64, about 150lbs, and ripped, i can see why they felt they needed to take protective action. it has nothing to do with “50 cent” and his “posse” being black and marv being white. it has to do with the mentality of the people involved, and their intent. it wouldn’t matter if marv were black, it was still assault, plain and simple. marv won’t press charges, and he shouldn’t, but that shouldn’t stop a spade from being called a spade. isn’t it time that we stopped condoning this kind of behavior and began eliminating it by punishing the perpetrators?

What happened was total BS. Everyone should remember a good philosophy. “If you show respect, you get respect. That’s where black america’s youth is finding their role models. But i guess when 1 in 4 black men under the age of 25 is in or has been in prison, you don’t have many options on role model choices.
