Morning Tweet: Child Please; Fining Chad Ochocinco Will Only Encourage Him
Nov 13, 2009, 9:01 AM EDT
The NFL fine system is one of the biggest jokes of all time: The proceeds end up going to charity, and can be used as a tax write-off for the players who incur them. But the league still goes through the motions of fining Chad Ochocinco for the crazy **** he pulls, including the dollar “bribe” of an official during the Ravens game on Sunday.
Look, your $20,000 levy is only going to encourage him: Ocho feeds on this kind of publicity. I learned a long time ago that if you want to make a 5-year-old stop acting out, you totally ignore him. And use one of these.
OK Friday, we’ve all about had it with your tardiness. Either you show up on time next week or don’t come in at all.

Ok, we get it, you think that Roger Goodell is a Nazi worse then Hitler.
Enough.
What you oh-so-conveniently ignored is that fact that numerous NFL officials have said that Ocho wouldn’t have been fined at all if he hadn’t said in a deliberately non-joking manner that the money was meant as a bribe. With all of the hoorah about Tim Donaghy fixing NBA games, and having written a tell-all book about it which made news when the NBA pressured the publisher into not releasing it, it was beyond stupid for Ocho to try something like this.
You say that the NFL should just ignore him, even though he is deliberately and consciously choosing to break the rules of the NFL. By that logic, I should be allowed to steal my next door neighbors car and the police should have to look the other way, right?
